Common Sports Injuries Seen in Our Office

An injury caused by lifting something that’s too heavy or improperly lifting can be very debilitating. When you work out, you do so mainly for health purposes, which is why it can be hard to deal with neck pain, lower back pain, and more stress and pain as a consequence. In some cases, you can injure yourself when you have to lift something at work, which would lead you to look for better work ergonomics. If you are looking for a chiropractor in Oakland that can help you recover from your injury, our team at Active Wellness Chiropractic Center is here to help.

Common Pains in the Work Environment

In many workplaces, physical pain is a serious yet unaddressed health problem caused by certain work ergonomics. These pains affect and disrupt the mood, attitude, sleep, emotional health, social life, and work productivity. Conventional medicine is used to treat the disease after occurring, but at Active Wellness Chiropractic Center, we concentrate on improving health to minimize illnesses and pain risks. Common pains at work hinder you from being productive, and they affect the achievement and maintenance of optimal health.

Common Lifting Injuries

Many common injuries can involve stress, lower back pain, neck pain, and more while lifting. Some of the most common are:

  • Disc herniation and degenerative disc disease – Poor lifting mechanics can cause disc herniations. Often, this is signaled by localized back pain and tingling/numbness in the legs.
  • IT band syndrome – This is common in runners, especially if they run with poor form. This can be signaled by pain between the outside hip bone and knee.
  • Achilles tendonitis – This injury is common in runners and is signaled by pain up to the Achilles tendon from the back of the heel. If you have this problem, the first thing you should do is let the inflammation reduce and slowly build up calf strength.
  • SLAP tear – A Superior Labrum Anterior and Posterior tear can occur due to either repetitive stress or acute trauma. This is a tear in the labrum, which is located in the shoulder.
  • Tennis elbow – This can happen as a result of over-gripping. One common symptom is an ache located on the outer part of your elbow.
  • Hamstring pulls and tears – This is signaled by a shooting pain in the back of your thigh. It is often caused by high-energy activities, such as jumping or sprinting.
  • Patellar tendonitis – The patella is the kneecap, and patellar tendonitis involves pain located at the patellar tendon just below said kneecap. If you have this condition, lots of rest and minimize stress on the knee are necessary.
